tour: The Constellation Tour
rec-rated: 9/10
comments: Great show! Honestly, I was not going into this show with super high expectations. Thee Sacred Souls’ music is pretty chill, and I usually put them on in the evenings when I want to relax and unwind, so I figured the live show would have a similar laid-back feel. There was one song in particular that made me really want to see them live: “Future Lover.” That song is seriously addicting, and I had a feeling hearing it live would be something special. And honestly, the concert really was something. The Constellation Tour was a three-part lineup featuring The Womack Sisters and LA LOM as openers, followed by Thee Sacred Souls as the headliner. The Womack Sisters went on pretty early at 7:00pm, so unfortunately I was not able to catch their set, but I did get to vibe with LA LOM, and they were a great way to kick off the night. They even brought The Womack Sisters back out for a song later in the set, which made for a really cool moment. Then Thee Sacred Souls took the stage, and damn, Josh Lane is a performer. I expected a more relaxed performance based on the music, but Lane brought a surprising amount of energy to the stage. Early in the show, he jumped off the stage and made his way into the GA pit, shaking hands and getting right in the middle of the crowd. Everyone was completely vibing with him and the music, and it felt like the separation between the performer and audience disappeared for a moment. Towards the end of the show, Lane took things even further during “Running Away”, running around the venue while singing. It was honestly pretty fitting, but more than anything, it completely woke the crowd up. Watching him move through the venue had everyone on their toes and made for one of the most fun and memorable moments of the night. The venue definitely could have been more filled, and I do think the show might have benefited from starting a little later. For a Friday night, the concert felt like it got going pretty early, especially with The Womack Sisters starting at 7:00pm. Still, the energy inside the venue was there, and the people who showed up were clearly there to enjoy themselves. Overall, I left pleasantly surprised by how energetic and interactive the performance was. They are definitely worth seeing live.
