Following a five-year break after the release of Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones in 2020, The Neighbourhood returned with one of their strongest releases yet. I couldn’t stop listening to (((((ultraSOUND))))) when it first came out, and what I loved most was how many of the songs continued to grow on me with each listen.
The deluxe edition, (((((ultraSOUND)))))+, was a great surprise in February 2026, adding even more depth to an already impressive album. To me, this is the closest they’ve come to recapturing the vibe of their earlier albums, I Love You. (10th Anniversary Edition) and Wiped Out!.
One thing I’ve always loved about The Neighbourhood is their ability to create this feeling of emptiness, nostalgia, and emotional greyness throughout their music. Almost every song carries that atmosphere, creating a sound that feels both haunting and comforting at the same time. This album captures that feeling perfectly, making it one of their strongest releases.
